The Security Systems Technician will ensure the design, construction, repair, and maintenance of all access control, intrusion, weapons detection, video surveillance systems, hardware, dispatch equipment and software, and parking gate equipment to meet DPS expectations. Security Systems Technician receives and evaluates work orders and requests and troubleshoots concerns related to all Security technologies. Security Systems Technician will establish priorities to facilitate repairs based on criticality and will coordinate work with contractors when required. Specialists will also provide subject matter expertise related to all DPS technology systems. Strives for superior performance by consistently providing a product or service to leadership and staff that is recognized as ultimately contributing to the patient and family experience. Recognizes and demonstrates understanding of patient and family-centered care.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Assist with procurement and maintenance of access control system and video management system as well as integration of other public safety security subsystems and intrusion detection.
- Review plans for all access control, video surveillance, and life safety alarms with new construction and refurbishment projects.
- Work directly with Public Safety Contractors/Vendors related to Public Safety Security technology equipment, including but not limited to vendor selections, technology upgrades, product selection, testing, field verification of systems, and inspection of work in progress for compliance with standards.
- Responsible for installation, scheduled maintenance, cleaning, and repairs to electronic devices, including, but not limited to, parking gates, cameras, access control devices, card readers, door strikes, door magnets, etc.
- Support security systems integration, mapping, and software updates and help train other Public Safety Caregivers in the use of systems.
- Order, inventory, and manage parts stock and tools.
- Create clearly written and effective reports, bulletins, and other analytical products to be used for Administrative briefings as needed.
- Utilize and demonstrate competency in using various security technologies and software applications (CCTV, IP camera technology, Alarm Systems, Access Control Systems, ID Badging, Elevator Monitoring Systems, Intercom Systems, Radios, and Paging Systems).
- Program and troubleshoot ID badging systems, alarm systems, access control systems, and IP camera systems. Monitor programs, software, and hardware to ensure they function effectively.
- Assist in creating and maintaining a handbook for troubleshooting various Security systems.
- Mature and optimize the advanced emerging security technology capabilities.
- Assist with Memorial Healthcare’s access control program, including electronic badges, keys, combinations, locks, panic/duress alarms, BHU Optek system, DSX system, Avigilon VMS, and HID fingerprinting.
- Collaborate with architects, vendors, facilities, project managers, and others to design electronic security systems based on project/construction documents and use relevant software when appropriate. When needed, provide electronic security and access control design input for the concept and construction drawings.
- Manage the inventory of material on hand. Identify and requisition additional material as it is needed.
- Install, program, maintain, and repair electronic locking system.
- Install and terminate low voltage cabling such as telephone, network, and paging cable.
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
Experience
- Two years of experience working with Physical Security technology, including service, maintenance, access control, and video surveillance systems.
Essential Physical Abilities/Motor Skills
- Able to travel independently throughout all Memorial Healthcare facilities.
- Small motor skills are required for operating modern computer, office, and telephone equipment as used by Memorial Healthcare.
Essential Technical Abilities
- Proficiency in using modern physical security equipment and systems (access control, CCTV/VMS, patrol tour, etc.), office, computer, and telephone equipment as used by Memorial Healthcare.
- Demonstrates ability to use a computer and multiple software programs, including security technology, which is an essential role of this position.
- Knowledgeable with various types of receivers.
- Working knowledge of network principles.
- Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions.
- Ability to efficiently work with multiple different computer programs and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications
