The Installation Technician II – Mission Critical Technologies will take lead on and support with repair/maintenance and the general installation of Mission Critical systems throughout New England, including but not limited to: Security(CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion), A/V, & Wireless Communication.
Responsibilities Include
- Perform low voltage cable installation, cable management, cable terminations, device installation, and other assigned project duties as required.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair systems and/ or equipment as necessary.
- Produce accurate documentation for the project as required including: system commissioning reports, Test Reports, As builts, system certification, etc.
- Provide daily project status updates, as required, and communication to the Project Management team.
- Summarize, report and present non-compliant attributes of a project, site, or system.
- Think clearly and logistically to make accurate decisions based on personal and professional judgement and verifiable criteria.
Work Experience Requirements
- Construction and/ or Industry experience required.
- Experience Cabling, low voltage infrastructure & terminations per all applicable state, local codes and BICSI standards required.
- Experience with Mission Critical Systems- Security (CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion), A/V, Wireless Communication required.
- Experience with the following systems preferred: Genetec, DMP, Avigilon, Hirsch, Bosch, Milestone, Ceragon, Cambium, Siklu.
- Experience with integrated security control systems (lock control) within Detention Facilities, Prisons, and Courts and other sensitive environments preferred.
Skills Requirements
- Ability to independently lead/ manage medium to large sized Mission Critical projects.
- Ability to read and interpret project scopes, one lines, floor plans, submittals, specifications, test reports and other related project documentation.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills, especially working in occupied and sensitive environments.
- Proficient in cabling best practices- running, supporting, and terminating category rated and multiconductor cabling.
- Experience/ certified with Fire Stopping; must be able to fire-stop any penetrations made or found.
- General understanding of computers and basic Microsoft Windows Applications.
- General understanding of networking concepts (wired and wireless).
- Demonstrate general skills required to configure and troubleshoot device connectivity (LAN and Internet access).
- Proficient with low voltage crimp tools, testing tools (meters, toners, etc.) and the use of other construction related tools.
- Ability to demonstrate persistence, tactfulness, and responsibility; maintain silence regarding confidential information; make decisions based on personal judgement and verifiable criteria; deal effectively with people in actual job duties beyond giving and receiving instruction.
- Demonstrate proficient skills to provide competent customer service using active listening and empathy during various interactions (i.e., in-person, phone, email, and chat).
- Must be self-motivated and work well with others in a team environment.
Knowledge Requirements
- Minimum of 4-6 years’ experience with the installation and commissioning of low voltage/ Data Communication systems including Security (CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion), Audio/Visual, and Wireless Communication.
- Minimum of 4-6 years’ experience related to all job duties of this position is required.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to see and hear clearly.
- Must be able to distinguish between colors (naturally or with correction); speak clearly; use arms and hands to reach for, handle and manipulate objects; coordinate eyes and hands rapidly and accurately, use hands to pull cables and wires, use power tools, and work in various positions.
- Must be able to climb and maintain body balance utilizing ladders, lifts, scaffolding; lift, carry or push objects weighing up to 50 lbs; crouch, stand and/or walk carrying equipment for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work in variety of temperature conditions throughout the calendar year; Safety clothing, equipment/ PPE expected at all times.
Education/Licenses/Certifications Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- OSHA 10 required.
- Industry/ manufacturer certifications preferred.
- MA State D-License (Required for MA Security work).
- RI TST Data Licensing preferred.
- Firestop Certified (Hilti or 3M) preferred.
- Boom and scissor Lift Certified preferred.
- Reliable transportation and a valid drivers' license required.
Comments
- Must be able to travel throughout New England as required (RI, MA, NH, ME).
- Must have a reliable form of transportation if a company vehicle is not provided.
- Must be able to work off hours if/when projects require it (second, third shift and weekends).
- Must be able to participate in the Service Department on-call rotation as required by SIGNET.
