SGTS Inc., a leading innovator in integrated security and control systems, is seeking a Service Support Engineer to provide high-level technical support and troubleshooting expertise for our long-term customers. This role has primary responsibility to the SGTS Service Team, working closely with field technicians to diagnose and resolve system issues efficiently. This role has a secondary responsibility to configure, program, deploy and commission newly installed systems. Based in Madison, this position offers the opportunity to support mission-critical security systems, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction. This role is ideal for a proactive problem-solver with strong technical acumen who enjoys working in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Remote & On-Site Troubleshooting – Provide technical support to field technicians and service teams, diagnosing and resolving security system issues.
- System Optimization – Assist in the maintenance, repair, and enhancement of security and control systems, including access control, surveillance, PLCs, and intrusion detection.
- Software & Firmware Updates – Deploy patches, updates, and configurations to improve system security and performance.
- Customer Support & Relationship Management – Act as a technical liaison for long-term clients, ensuring timely issue resolution and client satisfaction.
- Technical Documentation & Knowledge Sharing – Create troubleshooting guides, best practices, and training materials for internal teams and customers.
- Training & Education – Assist in training technicians, system users, and clients on troubleshooting and maintenance best practices.
- Industry Research – Stay up to date on emerging technologies, security trends, and IT best practices.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Technical Troubleshooting Expertise – Experience in IT maintenance, security system support, or related roles.
- Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking – Ability to diagnose and resolve complex security and network issues.
- Strong Communication Skills – Ability to guide field technicians, document solutions, and explain technical concepts clearly.
- Independent & Fast-Paced Work Ethic – Self-motivated, capable of handling multiple priorities in a dynamic service environment.
- Travel Flexibility – Willing to travel as needed for on-site troubleshooting and customer support.
PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Security & IT Certifications – Experience with Lenel, Genetec, Avigilon, CCNA, or Network+.
- PLC & Industrial Control Knowledge – Experience with PLC programming, industrial automation, or ladder logic.
- Cybersecurity & IT Best Practices – Knowledge of IT security risks and system hardening techniques.
- Technical Degree or Equivalent Experience – Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Engineering, IT, or equivalent years of experience.
