Sr. Network Engineer
Our client - a leading real-estate manager located in the Greater Dallas Fort- Worth Texas Metro area has an immediate need for a Sr. Network Engineer. This position requires employees to be onsite 5 days a week.
The Network Systems Engineer implements, configures, and maintains the organization's network systems infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. This role works closely with the IT Platform Architect to bring network designs to life while maintaining existing systems.
Duties include implementing networking equipment, troubleshooting connectivity issues, integrating systems, and ensuring robust security measures. A successful candidate must be detail-oriented, possess outstanding problem-solving skills, and have extensive knowledge of current networking technologies. The candidate must thrive in a fast- paced environment and work effectively within cross-functional teams.
In this role, the Network Systems Engineer's primary job responsibilities include:
- Network Design & Implementation: Design, document, and implement scalable network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, and wireless networks to meet business objectives.
- Network Administration: Configure and maintain network equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless systems. Implement network segmentation and traffic management for optimal performance.
- Network Security: Design and deploy comprehensive network security frameworks including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection systems, and access controls. Perform regular security assessments and implement hardening measures.
- Troubleshooting & Monitoring: Diagnose and resolve complex network issues. Implement monitoring systems to track network performance, capacity, and availability with proactive alert mechanisms.
- WAN Optimization: Analyze and optimize WAN connections to achieve cost-effectiveness and optimal performance. Implement SD-WAN and QoS policies to prioritize critical business traffic.
- IP Management: Maintain IP address management systems. Plan and implement IP addressing schemes for efficient network organization.
- Network Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed documentation of all network components, topologies, and configurations. Establish and enforce standards for network deployment.
- Disaster Recovery: Create and maintain network-focused disaster recovery and business continuity plans. Test recovery procedures regularly.
- Capacity Planning: Analyze current network usage patterns and project future needs. Recommend and implement network expansions or optimizations to support business growth.
- Vendor Management: Evaluate and select vendors and service providers for networking equipment. Manage relationships with ISPs and hardware suppliers to ensure best value and support.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Qualifications):
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Relevant professional certifications (CCNA, CCNP, Juniper JNCIS, Fortinet NSE) can serve as a replacement for a degree.
- 5+ years of experience in network design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), routing, switching, and firewall configuration.
- Experience with enterprise networking equipment from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Arista, or Fortinet.
- Proficiency in configuring and managing firewalls, VPNs, and other network security technologies.
- Experience with wireless network design and implementation.
- Knowledge of network automation tools and scripting (Python, Ansible, Netmiko).
- Understanding of SD-WAN technologies and implementation.
- Experience with network monitoring and performance analysis tools.
- Familiarity with Voice over IP (VoIP) and Quality of Service (QoS) implementation.
- Knowledge of IPv6 and network transition technologies.
- Experience with load balancing technologies preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in a similar role supporting a mid to large enterprise environment.
