Role Overview:
The Director of Sales plays a key role within the Retail sales department, responsible for developing, implementing and executing the regional business plan within the Midwestern territory. The Directoris the overall sales driver – developing, maintaining and expanding customer relationships while directing negotiations, reviews and penetrating existing and new market channels. The Director is also responsible for expanding awareness and sales results of Solaris Paper-branded and private branded programs penetrating geographic winners while building customers’ needs around programs, pricing structures, new product development, trade shows and marketing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Help build, develop and execute the sales and marketing strategy for the Solaris, FIORA retail lines and associated categories, including the overall strategy for the retail business, and basic tenets within region.
- Create regional sales plans to exceed monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets. Work with SVP Sales to create sales KPIs.
- Create and maintain strategic relationships with national channel partners in region, and large regional and national retailers.
- Identify key internal distributor personnel and establish a strong working relationship with key influencers and leadership teams.
- Utilize Solaris TBU leadership to enhance distributor management relationship and trust.
- Identify, establish and develop key industry contacts that drive market channel success.
- Lead and participate in customer meetings while leading negations of pricing and associated programs.
- Expand awareness of Solaris Paper, FIORA branded and private branded products/programs in the marketplace by participating in key Trade Shows and segment initiatives.
- Drive branded initiatives with a compelling value story for new and existing distributor partners based on matching benefits to their needs.
- Utilize social media (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram etc) to tell the Solaris story
- Focused sales efforts on securing market share, exceeding monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets, while managing profitability objectives.
- Help team secure new strategic distributor partners within multiple distribution channels.
- Develop strategic standards with credit terms, pricing strategies and distributor programs.
- Work with regional sales team and Finance on credit terms, timely A/R payment schedules, and execution of distributor quarterly/annual programs.
- Completion of you and your teams internal reports such budgets, forecasting, expense, price contracts, distributor programs, etc. in a timely manner as directed by company SOP’s.
- Lead and develop annual sales plans and quarterly reviews for region and with key distributor partners to support company strategic direction.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing schedules while leading teams’ analysis and understanding of market pricing and programs.
- Lead, develop, train and mentor District Managers, Territory Managers and Broker Representatives throughout the Midwestern region.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, preferred in Business Management, Marketing or Sales
- 10+ years of proven Retail and Private Label Sales experience (FMCG, preferred)
- Strong computer skills (MS Office, Excel, Power Point)
- Adaptable leader with hunter mentality
