The Global Security Systems Specialist provides technical security expertise, project management and decision-making skill to the enterprise operational security system with supporting efforts associated with the functionality of those systems. The ability to provide maintenance to and functionality of the access control, bio-metric, visitor management and CCTV systems across CyrusOne’s global network of facilities is crucial to the position. This position requires project management from startup to retrofit security design and implementation for all security related projects. The position is responsible for working with peer corporate and regional security management to ensure accurate and timely delivery of services.
We are seeking a Global Technical Security Systems Support Specialist to provide both onsite and remote support for physical security systems across our Sterling, VA data center. This role will primarily focus on troubleshooting, maintenance, and small-scale installations of security hardware and software solutions to ensure high service availability.
The ideal candidate will have experience in physical security technologies, including access control systems, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and alarm monitoring. They must possess strong problem-solving skills, a proactive approach to system improvements, and the ability to collaborate and effectively communicate with cross-functional teams. Maintaining high uptime and service metrics is critical to this role.
Responsibilities:
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Handle incoming security system tickets, ensuring timely resolution and maintaining system integrity.
- Provide remote and onsite troubleshooting for physical security systems, including access control, video management, and intrusion detection.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues related to security systems.
- Work with vendors and internal teams to resolve system outages and service disruptions.
- Maintain service-level agreements (SLAs) and uptime metrics to ensure operational excellence.
System Maintenance & Upgrades
- Perform routine maintenance, firmware updates, and patch management for security devices.
- Assist with small-scale installation projects, including adding or replacing security devices.
- Ensure documentation is up to date for all security assets and system configurations.
- Monitor system performance and proactively identify areas for improvement.
Process Improvement & Optimization
- Analyze system performance and provide recommendations for improving uptime and efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to enhance security system effectiveness.
- Document recurring issues and develop knowledge base articles for internal reference.
Training & User Support
- Conduct training sessions for onsite teams to improve troubleshooting capabilities.
- Provide guidance to security personnel on system usage and best practices.
- Develop and maintain user guides and SOPs for security technologies.
Qualifications:
Required
- Flexibility to respond to critical incidents outside of standard business hours as needed.
- 3+ years of experience in a technical support role focused on physical security systems.
- Hands-on experience with access control systems, CCTV (IP-based & analog), and intrusion detection systems.
- Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals, including IP-based security systems.
- Experience working in data center environments or other high-security facilities is a plus.
- Ability to work remotely with occasional travel for onsite support.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred
- Certifications in security technologies (e.g., CCURE, Genetec, CCNA, CompTIA Security+).
- Experience with cloud-based security platforms.
- Understanding of ITIL processes for service management.
